French fries is so easy to make. But the preparation is tedious specially if you have to slice each potatoe. I’ve never seen an electric potatoe slicer here. Or that would make life a lot easier. hehe..
Anyways, we buy the big potatoes (grown by Eden) either in Robinsons Mall , Gaisano Mall or SM. It’s about P94 per kilo. I like the bigger potatoes for french fries. You slice them , fry them and voila you have your own fries!
What’s difficult is finding a good fish recipe that would complement it. I’ve tried a lot over the years. I thought I found one that John and I both liked. Until I saw a new recipe from Food Network.
Yes, you really should try their Beer Battered Fish Fillet. It’s awesome!
In Davao, we get fresh Malasugue (white marlin) always. This would be my top choice for this recipe. Or Lapu Lapu (grouper) Fillet. For cheaper choices, Pangasius and Cream Dory also tastes good. 🙂
After slicing them to my desired sizes, I dip them onto the beer batter before frying them in a deep fryer.
How to Make a Beer Batter:
Combine the flour (2cups) , 2 teaspoons of Seasoned Salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda and a pinch of powdered pepper. The pepper was not in the recipe but I just added a small amount for a little spice. 🙂
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Then pour 1 can of Beer. I usually use San Mig Light. You’d think me crazy. But I tell you , it’s really good.
Once it’s cooked, serve it immediately with your own french fries.
It tastes yummy specially with Kraft Miracle Whip. hehe (that’s just me. ) You can use any sauce you like. John prefers catchup on his. 🙂
Happy eating! 🙂
