My cousin’s family is visiting Davao for a few days. Since they’ve never been to Samal Island, we decided to give them a treat. And took them to Kaputian Beach Park.
The day started with a drizzle. But when it stopped, it left a cloudy mark on the sky. Making it perfect for a swim in the beach. 🙂
Since it’s on a weekday, there was no line at the ferry boat port.
I love Samal, but going there on a Sunday is a tiring experience. Sometimes, the waiting time can reach as much as 2 hours one way. And another 2 hours going home.  It takes the fun out of it huh?! Specially for those who wait under the heat of the sun. If a bridge would not ruin the island by making it so accessible to everybody, I’d say “go for it” during those times…
Ok, so after 10 minutes, we were already in Samal Island. Kaputian is more or less, 27 kms from the ferry port. But it’s not a hassle considering that the road is all concrete. Plus the view is fantastic!
Twenty mins or so later, we arrived at Kaputian Beach Park. This is a simple resort maintained by the Local Government of Samal. For what it offers, it’s very cheap, if you ask me.
Like I said, the prices are very cheap. 🙂
The moment we set up our things in the nipa hut, everybody started preparing for a late breakfast. Kuya Dodong is a good cook, so he prepared pork kaldereta and humba while they were still at mama’s. 🙂
We thought, the grilled Bangus , pork and the tuna can wait for lunch. For now, we all concentrated on breakfast. haha
Ahhh.. ang sarap magkamay! hehe

The Facilities:
The non-aircon cottage at Kaputian Beach Park. Price is Php300.00 for an overnight stay.
The airconditioned cottage at Kaputian Beach Park. It costs P800.00 per night.
Red Roofed cottage costs P100.00 for daytime use.
Nipa Huts cost P250.00 for daytime use.
A set of plastic table and chairs cost P150.00 .
On the way home, we stopped beside the road to enjoy the view of the sea, Davao City and Pearl Farm. 🙂

Kaputian can be reached by bus from Davao City. The fare is P60.00 per head. Or you can take a passenger ferry (locally known as lantsa) at Sta. Ana Wharf. There are 2 schedules per day (one going to Kaputian) and (one going back to Davao).
Summer may be over. But Samal Island is just waiting for those who want to take a dip in the beach all year round. 🙂

There’s no limit on the food. And we’ve never been charged ng corkage fee. At all. That’s why our family loves Kaputian Beach Park. It’s cheap and the beach is really nice.

If you take the bus, di na kelangan magbangka. Ke bale isasakay sa ferry boat ang bus from Davao to Samal. Travel time is less than 10mins. From the port, Kaputian Beach Park is 27kms away pa. But the road is concrete. So it’s not difficult to go there.
Re: sea urchins, sa likod ng Samal madami dun. I don’t remember being stung ng sea urchin sa Kaputian Beach Park. Siguro kung meron man, konti lang.
Sa Kaputian proper, ang beach park ang pinaka maganda in terms of sand and water. Sa facilities naman, it’s very simple. Don’t expect too much. 🙂 Or you will be disappointed. Kung ano yong nasa pictures ng blog ko, that’s it na talaga.
There is an exclusive subdivision nearby, Kembali Coast, but it is not open to the public. The beach resort is exclusive for homeowners. So far that’s the best beach resort in Kaputian.
Other than, Pearl Farm of course.

Yes, merong boats. Depende kung ilang tao ang sasakay. The bigger the boat is, more expensive siya. Cheapest would be P800.00 for 10 people.
Multicab, so far wala akong nakita dun. Pero me bus from Kaputian to Davao. Madaanan ng route na yon ang Hagimit Falls. Sabihan mo lang ang conductor na dun ang punta ninyo.
Walang utensils. We normally bring baon pag pumupunta kami for day tours. If overnight, nagpapaluto kami dun sa store nila. Labor lang bayaran mo sa rice. Tapos me sugbahan dun, so grill na lang kayo ng isda or karne. 🙂

Follow up question po, sa pagkaka recall niyo ilang cottage na tag 800 meron sila and kasama na ba dun ang entranz? diba po nakalagay dun for 2 person max of 4, so excess na po yung 2? ska double size bed po ba yun or single lang tpos rent ng extra mattress? yung tag 400 nman po, mga ilang gnun po meron dun kasi 10pax po kasama… Maraming salamat ma’am, you’re such a big help…

They have 2 cottages at P800.00 per night. The room can actually accommodate at least 5. Kung ok lang sa inyo magsisikan. 🙂
Sa P400 per night, they have 4 cottages as of the moment.

If sa Sasa, you need to ride the Kaputian bus. Sometimes, matagal ang waiting period. So agahan niyo lang para di maubos ang time ninyo.

Yes, pwede kaayo. From the ferry boat port, proceed to Babak poblacion. From there, it’s about 25 kms to Kaputian Beach Park. It’s all concrete road. So ok lang ang biyahe.

There are boats coming from Sta. Ana Wharf, near Magsaysay Park in Davao going to Isla Reta.
Incase you get left behind, other option is to take the Island City bus from Davao to Kaputian. Pagdating mo ng Kaputian, you can rent a boat from there to Isla Reta.

There are only 2 trips per day. One in the morning, (I’m not sure if it’s 7am or 9am) going to Kaputian. And one in the afternoon, going back to Davao.
To be sure, take the bus from Magsaysay Park (near Sta. Ana Wharf) to Kaputian. I think the fare is P60.00 per head.
There are several buses in one day.

Yes. The bus will ride in the ferry boat. They take priority at all times because it’s owned by the ferry operators.
Kaputian Beach Park is walking distance to the market. So you can just buy fresh meat and fish there. Then grill them at the beach park.

Just follow the national highway (concrete road). It ends sa Kaputian. 🙂
That’s 27kms from the barge.
Para dili mo mawala, gikan sa barge, turn left to Babak Poblacion. Then right ka sa may Caltex yata to. That’s the National Highway. Sunda lang jud na. Mahuman na nga road sa Kaputian Poblacion jud.

Plano namin sa may sta ana wharf na lang, since mas malapit. What mode of transport do you suggest? Bus or ung boat? And do you know the possible schedule? Also, on a more important note… Paano ka makauwi? Haha! I heard may last trip ung lancha pero sa hapon, pano kung maiwan kayo? :p

Yes, pwede sa Sta. Ana Wharf. But I am not sure of the bus schedule. The boat I believe leaves about 7 in the morning. But please have that checked because I am not sure of it as well. The boat leaves from Kaputian at 4 in afternoon. It’s a bumpy ride though, so I am not sure if you would like that. Between the two, I’d take the bus going home. 🙂
We’ve never had problems there. But we were always on a day tour. So I cannot give an opinion pag overnight stay. Sorry. It is being operated by the City government so me guard naman.
Alam mo, I do not remember seeing sea urchins there. I love the beach even if it’s a small place. As to going deeper, I do not know. Di ako marunong lumangoy so I never dared to do that. haha
